Company History
The Harrisonburg-Rockingham Emergency Communications Center (HRECC) was officially established on July 27, 2005, as a unified agency. Before this consolidation, telecommunications services were managed independently by the following entities:
Harrisonburg Police Department
Rockingham County Sheriff's Office
Harrisonburg Fire Department, which encompassed Rockingham County Fire & Rescue
Initially, all 911 calls were routed through Fire & Rescue Communications before being transferred to the appropriate department—either HPD Communications or RCSO Communications—depending on the nature of the emergency.
